Belfast News:
Bank of England Withdraw Note
Users should be aware that the Bank of England is withdrawing the 'Elgar' £20 notes from
the end of June 2010.
The bank has already been introducing the new style £20 for some
time but has now decided to withdraw as legal tender the note
showing the portrait of Sir Edward Elgar, effective 30th June.
After the end of June shops and businesses will no longer accept
the old style notes, but by agreement with the Bank of England
most banks, building societies and post offices will continue to
accept these notes for a few more months, after which point you
will have to send your old notes (at your own risk) to the Bank of England
if you wish to redeem them.
You can contact the bank:
By Phone: 020 7601 4878
By Email: enquiries@bankofengland.co.uk
