BELFAST
NEWS:
BIG WINTER FREEZE
Northern Ireland Gas provider Phoenix Natural Gas has announced a big winter freeze, on prices for users in the Greater Belfast area. The freeze will benefit thousands of homes and local Belfast businesses, totaling
approximately 130,000.
The move is possible as the company bought large wholesale supplies earlier this year, when they were cheaper. Managing Director of Phoenix Supply, David Strahan, said: 'Despite recent increases in wholesale energy prices on worldwide commodity markets, we are pleased that we have been able to maintain prices for our customers at their current level'.
Editorial
This big freeze is good news, especially as winter looms and temperatures have already dropped but what about other customers outside
Belfast?
Many
users may not know that Phoenix Supply
Ltd operates in the Greater Belfast licence
area only and it is they that have announced that natural gas prices are to remain at their
current level from 1st October 2010. Media
coverage of this story may have mislead
some users, in particular those
wondering why only 130,000 customers
would benefit but the media should have
disclosed that this is the entire consumer
base of Phoenix at present. DID
YOU KNOW?
Phoenix Supply Ltd does not operate outside the Greater Belfast
licence area.
Firmus Energy has exclusive right to supply in the
ten towns outside Greater Belfast. This
price freeze is a welcome move by
Phoenix, but will Firmus provide other
gas users an earlier Christmas present.
If they do, what a Gas that would been?
