Belfast News: Frustrated Local Residents
Speak Out
Belfast
News Editorial
The frustrated residents in Cherryvalley, Kensington and
Shandon are not alone as all over Belfast residents are becoming more
sickened at traffic problems they face: ranging from excessive speeds,
their streets becoming shortcuts, over development and building work
etc.
After the RACKS group (East Belfast) broadcast their story on BBC News Line other NI
residents complained at the groups attitude, as they in fact used other
peoples streets much in the same way and theirs were now being used.
Whilst the RACKS complaint may be unusual it highlights wider issues
in planning, development and roads. It is this sites view that action
needs to be taken to safe guard our environment, culture and way of life
and if communities have come to expect a certain way of doing things and
certain standards then they should be respected and not abused by
others, including developers.
cherryvalleyvillage.co.uk have made a few jokes about this issue on
our sites, to lighten the mood, but we support this group in tackling
head on the issues our communities face.
